Cannstatter Volksfest – Stuttgart
This year the 179th Cannstatter Volksfest with the Agricultural Main Festival (LWH) will take place from September 25 to October 11, 2026.
The greatest thing about fall
Stuttgart loves the fall. What is your favorite time of year? Not only in Stuttgart, but all over the world, people look forward to autumn – because then it’s finally time to go to the Wasen again!
When the scent of roasted almonds fills the air, the colorful lights of the rides twinkle, and music rings out from the festival tents, the 179th Cannstatter Volksfest will be the gathering place for visitors from all over the world. What once began as an agricultural fair is now the largest folk festival in Baden-Württemberg. To this day, it remains true to its traditions while continuing to evolve year after year. The festival will be officially opened with the traditional tapping of the keg by Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper on September 25 in the “Wilhelmer’s Schwabenwelt” festival tent.
A Little Bit of Everything
© Thomas Nieder On the “A Little Bit of Everything” walking tour, you’ll discover Stuttgart’s Bohnenviertel from both a historical and culinary perspective. Over the course of about two hours, you’ll hear historical stories about the neighborhood and sample a small selection of authentic Swabian delicacies, including an appetizer. Back in the 16th century, the Bohnenviertel was home to Stuttgart’s poorer residents, whose diet consisted mainly of beans—which is what gave the neighborhood its name. Today, the area is a popular trendy neighborhood with bars, cafés, small fashion boutiques, and antique shops. Look forward to a walking tour that combines city history with Swabian culinary delights.
Fairy Tale Festival
© Blühendes Barock Gartenschau Ludwigsburg GmbH Between Rapunzel’s Tower, the Fairy Tale Garden, and the Pumpkin Meadow, a magical weekend awaits young visitors at Blühendes Barock Ludwigsburg on August 1 and 2, 2026. Using a checklist, they’ll explore seven varied stations, solve tasks and puzzles, and receive a small surprise upon successful completion. The program is rounded out by fairy tale storytelling, walking acts, the BarockVolleys, the children’s face-painting fairy, and—on Sunday—the model shipbuilders’ fairy tale boat ride. In addition, the Rapunzel Contest for various age groups will take place at Emichsburg Castle on both days at 2:30 p.m. Admission to the fairy tale festival is included in the regular admission price; only the arts-and-crafts activities and face painting for children require an additional fee. Street Art in Stuttgart
On this tour, Stuttgart reveals its creative side beyond the classic sights. Starting at the Haus des Tourismus, the two-hour walking tour takes you through colorful alleys, urban hotspots, and hidden graffiti artworks in public spaces.
Along the way, you’ll discover impressive murals, stickers, and stencils and learn just how diverse street art can be—sometimes political, sometimes poetic, and sometimes provocative. You’ll also get to know local and international street artists and gain fascinating insights into styles, techniques, and the creative process behind the works. Gen Z Rede(t)
Young voices, fresh perspectives, and authentic opinions from Stuttgart take center stage at the exhibition “Gen Z Rede(t).” You can visit this free exhibition at Salon Sophie in the StadtPalais — developed jointly by the StadtPalais – Museum für Stuttgart and Kultur Rabauken — through July 12, 2026. You’ll discover Gen Z’s favorite and least favorite spots in Stuttgart, as well as topics like the draft, drugs, mental health, and other challenges facing the younger generation. What’s particularly exciting: The exhibition was created by young people for young people and invites you to share your own opinions at numerous interactive stations. Additionally, street interviews offer insights into Gen Z’s perspectives and reveal what matters most to young people in Stuttgart.
Castle Discovery Day
Step back in time: Amid castle walls, monastic cells, state rooms, and arcades, the magic of bygone eras is still felt today, and every monument tells its own unique story. The Castle Experience Day on June 21, 2026, under the theme “Culinary Delights,” invites families to explore impressive sites such as the burial chapel on the Württemberg with a view of the Neckar Valley, Lorch Abbey overlooking the Remstal, the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace with its princely state rooms, as well as Favorite Palace, Monrepos Palace, and Solitude Palace. Depending on the location, the theme is interpreted in very different ways, offering exciting activities for every taste.
