Christmas magic – November 21 to December 23

The Lautrer Christmas market! Let yourself be enchanted by the harmonious atmosphere, immerse yourself in the festive Christmas spirit with friends and family. A particularly beautiful event in this contemplative pre-Christmas period and a wonderful harbinger of Christmas invites you to stroll and linger again from November 21.

The Christmas stalls on Schillerplatz and around the collegiate church will make you feel the magic of the festive season. Be inspired by the joy and love of Christmas. Coziness and hospitality everywhere, the smell of roasted almonds and hearty treats from the grill, beautiful decorations and warming mulled wine. A great opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and soak up the Christmas atmosphere. And just as good an opportunity for shopping: Whether traditional arts and crafts, fine Christmas tree decorations or delicious Christmas delicacies, there is something to suit every taste at the Lautr Christmas market. Entertainment is also provided with a varied supporting program and lots of music.

There will once again be a carousel for younger visitors and, of course, young bakers will be able to bake delicious Christmas cookies in the children’s Christmas bakery. A great opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

From December 27 to December 30, all visitors are invited to enjoy the special atmosphere of the New Year’s Eve market before the gates close at the turn of the year.

Opening of the market

The opening of the market will take place on November 21, 2024 at 6 pm. Mayor Beate Kimmel will open the Christmas market together with the Christ Child, while Luther Club Band &Tyle Blanc will provide musical entertainment. “Our Christmas market is not only a meeting place for family and friends, but also a place that reflects the traditions of our city. We want to offer our guests an unforgettable experience that warms their hearts and brings the magic of the festive season to life,” says Mayor Beate Kimmel.

Enchanting Christkind

Of course, the Lautr Christkind should not be missing in the Lautr Advent hustle and bustle. Together with Antenne Kaiserslautern 96.9, the new Lautr Christkind – Eva – was chosen. She will make her first appearance at the opening of the Christmas market on November 21 at 6 p.m. together with Lord Mayor Beate Kimmel on Schillerplatz, where the Lautr Christkind will enchant adults and make children’s eyes light up in her white angelic dress.

Kulture Market in the Fruchthalle

This year’s Kulturmarkt starts on November 29, 2024 and is open daily from 12:00 to 19:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 until December 22. The more than 80 artisans on offer range from great gift ideas made of ceramics, jewelry and light objects to candles, soaps and leather goods. You can also buy and admire products made of wood, glass and paper, bags, fashion, textiles, handmade cuddly toys and original accessories. The opening of the cultural market will be accompanied by a percussion ensemble from the Emmerich-Smola Music School and Music Academy Kaiserslautern.

Located in the immediate vicinity of the Lautr Christmas market, the cultural market in the Fruchthalle is well worth a visit again this year. In addition to the permanent exhibitors, some  well-known and some new, who are on site throughout the entire period, a large number of temporary exhibitors in particular ensure that a frequent visit to the cultural market always remains exciting. Together with the professional and amateur artists, numerous charitable organizations and associations also present their product ranges.

What’s more, the culinary offerings make the trip to the Fruchthalle doubly worthwhile. In addition to fresh cakes and tarts, the school café also serves delicious waffles and sandwiches. Coffee, tea or cold drinks are also available as required. At lunchtime, the “Christmas Bistro” of the Fruchthallen gastronomy awaits its guests on the first floor with daily changing hot dishes. A musical supporting program, in which choirs, ensembles and soloists from the city and district participate on a voluntary basis, rounds off the offerings for a visit to the Kulturmarkt before Christmas.

As always, admission to the Fruchthalle is free. The cultural market is open daily from November 29 to December 22 from 12:00 to 19:00, Saturdays from 10:00 to 19:00. Before the concerts in the Fruchthalle, the Kulturmarkt can even be visited until 19:30.

Lautr’s Christmas bakery

This year, the bakery is located on Stiftsplatz and will be open from November 25. Supported by the Barbarossa bakery, Sparkasse Kaiserslautern and Zelte Knörr, children can bake Christmas cookies to their heart’s content on 75 square meters.

On weekdays, children from local schools and kindergartens bake, at weekends all children are welcome to come without prior registration, free of charge of course! The Christmas bakery is open on weekdays from 11:00 to 16:30, on Saturdays from 11:00 to 17:00 and on Sundays from 14:00 to 18:00 from 25.11.-22.12.2024.

New Year’s Eve market:

Until December 23, the Kaiserslautern Christmas market offers a colorful bouquet of inspiration and entertainment. But there’s also plenty to keep you going longer: from December 27 to December 30, the now traditional New Year’s Eve market will sweeten the time between the years. All visitors are invited to enjoy the special atmosphere in the city center before the gates are closed at the turn of the year.
