The greatest thing about fall

Wasen 1

Stuttgart loves the fall. What is your favorite time of year? Not only in Stuttgart, but all over the world, people look forward to autumn – because then it’s finally time to go to the Wasen again!

With more than 200 years of history, the Cannstatter Volksfest is the most important festival in Baden-Württemberg. An incredible 4.3 million visitors came to experience the Cannstatter Volksfest in 2023. And this year, what is certainly the largest and probably the most beautiful fairground festival in the world will once again attract visitors with countless rides, stalls and attractions.

A cozy Ferris wheel or a breathtaking roller coaster? Roasted almonds or crispy rooster?
A splashing white-water ride or a refreshing beer? Solo, couple, group or family?

A uniquely varied offer guarantees fun, excitement and sensation for all guests. Experience it for yourself – at the Wasen, autumn will also be your favorite season.

Who wants to stay at home?

Cannstatter Beerfest

The heart and landmark of the Cannstatter Volksfest is the 26-metre-high, magnificently decorated fruit column, a reminder that the first folk festival was organized in 1818 by the Württemberg royal couple Katharina and Wilhelm 1 for the citizens of the state and marked the end of a severe famine.

Typically Swabian, incomparably delicious
With this historical knowledge, it tastes even better at the Wasen. Regional specialties such as Käsespätzle, roast beef or Schupfnudeln with cabbage pamper the palate in typical Swabian style – and form a delicious basis for a pint of freshly tapped Volksfest beer or a good “Viertele” of Stuttgart wine.

The Sound of Wasen
No folk festival without a marquee. And no marquee without music! During the day, traditional folk bands create a great atmosphere, while in the evening, entertainment music stars get the party going. And if you prefer things a little quieter, you can enjoy Swabian hospitality in a cozy and warm atmosphere in the well-kept marquee loges.

Faster, higher, more exciting
Do you want another round? Yeh sure! Whether it’s a super loop or a chain carousel, a free-fall tower or a haunted mansion, a white-water ride or a funfair: the many rides at the Cannstatter Volksfest guarantee thrills, adventure and great fun for all ages.

Great fun on Family days
On Wednesday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 9. Volksfest means family festival: that’s why many attractions are offered at reduced prices on the popular family days. Children can look forward to the fairytale carousel, children’s train, clowns, stilt walkers, balloon artists, glitter tattoos and great hands-on activities.

Grand musical fireworks display Sunday, October 13, 9.30 p.m. The farewell highlight: the night sky is enchanted by fireworks accompanied by fantastic music.

Volksfest Parade

With over 200 years of history, the folk festival has a great tradition. And this is also cherished: The folk festival parade, which always takes place on the first Sunday of the festival, is an experience for the whole family. Magnificently decorated brewery carriages, colourful traditional costume groups and music bands, groups and vigilantes from all over the country parade from the Kursaal through the historic alleyways of Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt to the Wasen.

Founded in 1818, the Cannstatt Folk Festival is now one of the largest and most beautiful folk festivals in the world. Thanks to its attractions, it attracts around four million visitors to Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, every year. The Cannstatter Wasen, the 37-hectare fairground along the Neckar, becomes an intercultural meeting place. People from different nations and generations laugh, sing and celebrate together here for 17 days in an exuberant atmosphere until late in the evening.
