7th. Homburg Beer Hike

The Homburg Cultural Society invites you to the 7th. beer hike on Ascension Day, 14 May

Kw 21 bierwanderungOn May 14, 2026, the 7th Homburg Beer Hike will take place, an event that has become an integral part of life in the beer capital of the Saarland. Like last year, the route is just under 17 km long, divided into seven stages. In addition to the start and finish, there will be six refreshment stations, five of which will feature live music, draft beer, other beverages, and a variety of food options. There will also be an additional non-alcoholic station offering sweets and coffee. As always, the entire route will be clearly marked. In addition to the premium Urpils variety, each station will offer another special beer variety from Karlsberg at special prices. Of course, non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Restrooms are provided. As always, participation in the beer hike is free of charge, and registration is not required.

The starting point this time is the Wörschweiler sports field (at the edge of town toward Bierbach). Ample parking is available there. The finish line is located in the neighboring town of Schwarzenacker on the grounds of the Roman Museum, so the walk back to your parked car at the end of the hike is very short. For hikers who prefer to travel by public transportation (which is also recommended given the tempting beer selection), a shuttle service will of course be available again. A bus will pick up arrivals at the main train station (station forecourt) starting around 9 a.m. approximately every 30 minutes and take them to the starting point. In the evening, starting around 8 p.m., the bus will run from the finish line back to the main train station at the same intervals until around 10 p.m.

Drinks will be served at the starting point starting at 9 a.m.; the recommended start time is between 10 and 11 a.m. Of course, everyone is free to set their own hiking pace. The route continues to Einöd, where the first stop is planned at the local fire station. After climbing 125 meters in elevation, the Einöder Höhe will be the second stop. After enjoying food and drink as well as the magnificent view, the route leads back downhill to Ernstweiler in the Palatinate, where the third stop is planned at the “Prinzenpark.” From here, an attractive hiking trail leads through a small wooded area. In the so-called Jammertal, another stop will be set up near the Dibeliushof.

After another climb, the route follows the L214 to the Kirrberg ski and hiking hut. There, too, thirsty and hungry hikers will find something to their liking. The trail then continues westward over the hills toward the Pfänderbach Valley. After another stop, the trail leads through an idyllic wooded area to Schwarzenacker, where the “Sculpture Trail” takes hikers to the destination: the Roman Museum. There, as in previous years, the Frankfurt classic rock band N.S.A. will get the party started in an antique setting. Of course, refreshments will also be well provided for there.

There are also prizes to be won on the beer hike: products from Karlsberg, tickets from the Homburg Cultural Society, and much more. Anyone who wants to participate will receive a stamp card at the start. Only cards containing all 6 stage stamps will be entered into the drawing.

Starting in mid-March, all information about the beer hike will be available on the website bierwanderung.homburg.de (enter without www). The site is constantly updated. The list of winners will also be posted there after the hike (around early June).

As in every year, extensive consideration will of course be given to nature conservation. Hikers must strictly observe the following: Dogs must be kept on a leash, and trash must be taken with you or disposed of in the appropriate trash bins.
