Wiesbaden Twinkling Star Christmas Market

November 25 – December 23 – 2025
Monday – Thursday 10:30 – 21:00; Friday – Saturday 10:30 – 21:30; Sunday: 12:00 – 21:00

Wiesbaden’s Christmas market will be officially opened at the end of November and will remain open on the Schlossplatz between the Rathaus and Stadtschloss, as well as around the Marktkirche, until the 23 December.

The Twinkling Star Christmas Market on the Schlossplatz opens its doors on 25 November. At 6 pm on the dot, angels will hover in the skies and bathe the Advent market in their magnificent light. Lights shaped like the lilies on the city’s coat of arms, a splendidly decorated Christmas tree, festive aromas and Christmas music set the scene for Wiesbaden’s annual Christmas market. Called the Sternschnuppenmarkt, it is set on picturesque Schlossplatz square against the backdrop of the old and new town hall and Hessen’s regional assembly building.

Children’s shooting star market
The popular Kindersternschnuppenmarkt opens its doors on Luisenplatz. A colorful program with craft activities, Christmas stories and live music awaits young guests on the Winter Magic Stage. Also on offer are the shooting star express and, of course, the children’s carousel. Stroll through the enchanted gnome forest and discover its mystical inhabitants. Twinkling lights and enchanting illuminated figures create a fairytale atmosphere that will make the eyes of young and old alike light up.

The anticipation of Christmas can also be felt on Mauritiusplatz: In the WinterStubb you will be spoiled with Hessian specialties and from the Ferris wheel you can enjoy the view from a height of 45 meters over the festively decorated city centre.

Four gates in the shape of lilies form the entrances to this fairytale scene. The oriental-style stalls decked out in blue and gold are a treasure trove of arts and crafts, some locally made. There’s a wide range of products to choose from, including olive wood items, honey specialities, hand-blown glass art and sweet treats from the world’s greatest confectioners. Kids are not the only ones whose eyes will light up at the sight of the old-fashioned carousels, the children’s railway and life-size, wooden Nativity scene. Another big attraction is ‘Eiszeit’ (ice age). This 800 square meter ice rink, located at “Warmer Damm” behind the Hessian State Theatre offers ice skating, curling and much more besides.

Stage program and organ music

On the stage in front of the town hall, a door of the Advent calendar will be opened every day at 5.30 pm from December 1 and there will be a varied entertainment program. On 6 December, for example, everything will revolve around “Christmas in the 80s”, on 7 December Irish Christmas will be on the program, followed by Italian and Spanish Christmas songs on 8 December and 14 December. Christmas melodies without borders will be performed in an American style on December 20. From December 1 to 23, visitors to the Marktkirche can enjoy Advent organ music every day at 5.45 pm and the Advent devotional “12 minutes with the Lord” at 6 pm.

Wiesbaden on Ice

In the 2025/2026 winter season, the bowling green in front of the Kurhaus will once again be transformed into Germany’s largest mobile ice rink from November 25 to January 11. Bookings for ice times and curling rinks can already be made online. The ice rink covers an area of around 2,500 square meters – making it the largest mobile ice rink in Germany. Against the picturesque backdrop of the illuminated Kurhaus, you can not only pirouette but also shoot curling sticks.

On a spacious area of 750 square meters, gastronomic delicacies are offered on comfortable seating – both in heated tents and on open spaces directly on the ice rink. Glide over the ice to good mood music and then enjoy a refreshment – a perfect winter evening. Services include skate hire, lockers, changing tents, skate sharpening and ice skating aids on site. The five curling rinks are located on both sides of the ice rink at the upper fountain of the bowling green, in the immediate vicinity of the catering area.
