Automotive retro fever in the city

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, all visitors are cordially invited to experience a piece of automotive history in downtown Kaiserslautern. At the 16th Kaiserslautern Classics, a colorful array of automotive treasures from times long past will once again be on display – as always organized and presented by the City Management. On the occasion of this event, numerous classic car enthusiasts will once again come together in downtown Kaiserslautern and present their lovingly maintained gems to the countless onlookers in the pedestrian zone.

A special feature this year will be the premiere of the “ADAC Trifels Oldtimerwanderung”, organized by the Sportfahrer Union Kaiserslautern. It leads on a total length of about 240 kilometers over different special stages through the Vorderpfalz and Westpfalz and replaces the well-known ADAC Rally Trifels Historic. The classic car tour starts on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. on the square in front of the town hall. Return and thus entry of the participants on the Stiftsplatz is expected from 3 pm.

Another highlight and also a premiere is the 1st Vespa meeting in Kaiserslautern. Numerous enthusiasts of the legendary motor scooter will meet at 10:00 a.m. at Johanniskreuz and will then enter the city center at around 11:00 a.m. via Eisenbahnstraße, where they will then present themselves and their two-wheelers as part of the “Kaiserslautern Classics” in Riesenstraße.

And of course, the Kaiserslautern Classics would not be the Kaiserslautern Classics without a lavish supporting program. In keeping with the classic car motto, the wild times of the 50s, 60s and 70s and the special feeling of those years will be the focus here as well. Various dance groups, dressed in petticoats and real rock’n’roller dress coats, will provide a special feast for the eyes and parade through the city center. There will also be a lot of music. On Schillerplatz, “The Hot Rolls” will perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in front of Stiftskirche from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Sarah und die Swing Herren” and then from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. “The Mad Facts”. The music program will be complemented by the choirs “Fresh” (David Punstein) and “Forever Young” (Matthias Stoffel), who will perform their skills from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at various locations in the city center.
