Downtown Wiesbaden has yet another attraction: the Balthasar Ress Weinbar & Vinothek on Mauergasse – the flagship store of the wine estate in the heart of Wiesbaden.

All Balthasar Ress wines (at ex cellar prices), a few selected wines from friends’ estates, and choice culinary delicacies reflect the savvy, typicity, and charm of Wiesbaden and its surroundings. The verifiable origin of everything on offer is an important consideration. All of these handcrafted, high-quality products can be sampled here six days of the week in an ideal venue.

The exterior is an original, turn-of-the-century façade, while the interior is a modern lounge that was constructed with high-quality materials. The new Balthasar Ress wine bar and shop is designed to appeal to wine enthusiasts and bons vivants who want to drink and purchase wine in an attractive ambience. It’s a new rendezvous for an enjoyable midday snack, a quick espresso, a shopping break or the start of an evening.

In the Vinothek (wine shop), nearly all wines, sparkling wines and spirits in the current Balthasar Ress portfolio can be sampled – a great help in making just the right selection. In addition to Balthasar Ress wines, the Vinothek also sells wines produced by French wine estates with whom we do business as well as numerous wine-related accessories.

For guests who not only want to drink wine, but also experience it, the two managers on hand are thoroughly familiar with the many services Balthasar Ress provides. They can help arrange an extensive tasting of the wines on offer; book wine tastings or wine hikes; organize events at the estate’s manor in Hattenheim; reserve a compartment in the wineBANK; lease a vine; etc.

Wine is emotional, vibrant, and captivating. Particularly, when it reflects its origin. Our wine is a “native wine”. It stands for everything that defines our vineyards in the Rheingau. It stands for what we are – the fifth generation of Rheingau wine-growers.

Our wine estate, which today comprises 46 ha (ca. 114 acres), offers besides our large selection of wines (90% Riesling, 8% Spätburgunder) also a great variety of offers on the subject of wine. You can lease your own vine in the vineyards of Balthasar Ress or we organise your own wine tasting or wine walk through the vineyards. Otherwise you can rent our estate manor for your own event with up to 300 guests.
