Concert series invites you to Volkspark on Sundays

Varied music program starts again in May

On May 12, 2024, Lord Mayor Beate Kimmel will open the popular series of Volkspark concerts. Citymanagement Kaiserslautern will then organize a total of nine concerts with various outstanding music groups in the blue pavilion every two weeks until the beginning of September. The concerts, each lasting around two hours, start at 11 am. Admission is free. The Musikverein Otterbach e.V. will provide refreshments and there is also an adventure playground for younger guests in the immediate vicinity of the music pavilion.

The Musikverein Trulben e.V. will kick off the event on May 12. Under the motto “Musical World Tour”, the association will showcase its stylistic diversity with traditional brass music, lively light music, swing and symphonic works. The approximately 25 active musicians of the association are delighted to be part of the Volkspark concerts this year.

On May 26, the Musikverein Hohenecken 1924 e.V. will present big band sounds. “100 years and not a bit quiet!” is the title of the program. The Musikverein’s big band, which has been in existence since 2005, will perform instrumental and vocal pieces. The repertoire includes swing and pop arrangements.

“Tradition meets modernity” is the motto on June 9, when the Kolpingskapelle Neustadt / Weinstraße Hambach e.V. takes to the stage. Founded in 1965, the band delights audiences with traditional and concert brass music as well as sophisticated light music such as film music, musicals and rock and pop music.

The motto of the Rittersberg Big Band is “Swing and Sing”. The 13 to 20-year-old musicians offer a varied program of swing, Latin and rock music. On June 23, the multi-award-winning and well-traveled band under the direction of Markus Lücke will showcase their skills on stage in Volkspark.

A repertoire of modern light music awaits the audience two weeks later, on July 7. The NahetalOrchester – the symphonic wind orchestra of the Katholische Kirchenmusik “Cäcilia” Sponsheim e.V. – will be playing under the motto “Musikalische Vielfalt so (N)ahe”.

On Sunday, July 21, the Kolpingkapelle Kindsbach 1926 e.V. invites you to “The World of Brass Music”. The modern wind orchestra caters to all tastes with folk and marching music through to church music, modern arrangements of pop and jazz music and popular medleys from well-known musicals.

“Musical journey through time” is the motto on August 4, when the Spielgemeinschaft Hütschenhausen e.V. can be seen in the Volkspark. The brass band, which was founded in 1929 and currently has 40 musicians and a diverse repertoire, has been conducted by Stefan Grüner since 2003.

On August 18, the Münchweiler 1924 e.V. music association will continue with the motto “100 years of brass music, a special journey!”. The association, also known as the “Kienholzmusikanten”, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and would like to inspire many listeners with its varied program again this year.

The final concert will take place on September 1. Under the motto “Big Band goes Volkspark”, the Blue Light Big Band Ludwigshafen will be performing swing, Latin, rock, pop and soul music. The band, made up of members of the police force and musician friends, is under the musical direction of police officer Manuel Kunz.
