Summer in the City Concerts
This year, too, go out with your friends to enjoy concerts and events by your favorite artists in the warm summer air – and the most beautiful locations in Mainz? For over 10 years, the SUMMER IN THE CITY festival has been turning this dream into a dreamlike reality. Here, audiences celebrate, dance and enjoy life together.
Performances by international top stars and local up-and-coming bands. It covers the entire spectrum from rock, pop, blues and jazz to classical and world music. The programme offers something for any age group, and the events take place all over the city, like the historic Citadel, the Mainzer Volkspark, the market square and many more are transformed into atmospheric open-air concert locations.

Ronan Keating
Ronan Keating’s impressive music career began in 1994 with the boy band Boyzone. Their first hit song ‘Love Me For A Reason’ immediately entered the top three of the singles charts. From then on, Ronan’s path in the music scene was unstoppable. With Boyzone, one of the biggest pop bands of the nineties, he achieved six number one hits and a total of 16 top five singles. In August 1999, he landed his first number one single with his solo hit ‘When You Say Nothing At All’, from the soundtrack of ‘Notting Hill’. 2004 marked Ronan’s first decade in the music industry, which was celebrated with the album ‘Ronan Keating – 10 Years Of Hits’. The album went straight to number one and sold almost 2.5 million copies worldwide.

For over three decades, Canadian artist Loreena McKennitt has been exploring the diverse aspects of Celtic music. Seemingly effortlessly, she combines instrumental and vocal perfection and emotion into a sound costume that enchants the listener. The passionate globetrotter will be touring Europe in the summer of 2024.

The BossHoss
Live on stage, The BossHoss are a unique, phenomenal experience – full of energy, rousing, mind-blowing. When the seven charismatic capital city cowboys, above all the two frontmen Alec “Boss Burns” Völkel and Sascha “Hoss Power” Vollmer, are on stage, not only die-hard country fans but also rock’n’roll fans get their money’s worth. In the finest western rock’n’roll style, they transform concert halls and open-air venues into gigantic rock parties from the very first note – this is entertainment at its best.

WeinMarkt
Every last weekend in August and every first weekend in September, the Mainz City Park transforms into a sea of wine stalls and sideshows.
The Mainz wine market attracts numerous visitors from home and abroad and invites visitors to stroll, taste and experience the wine.
Nearly 50 wine stands from Rheinhessen present their products, the wine village of the Great Wine Capital Community offers wines from abroad and an entertainment program is also started for the little ones.
The champagne festival and the artist market take place in the romantic rose garden as every year.
Experience the Mainz Farmer’s Market!
Every week on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 7 am to 2 pm you can experience one of the most beautiful markets in Germany at the St. Martin’s Cathedral, right in the city center of Mainz. Enjoy shopping at numerous booths and market stalls which offer a wide variety of fresh and regional products. Whether fruits, vegetables, bread, cheese or honey – the Mainz market offers something for everyone’s taste. An especially unique highlight is the “Marktfrühstück” (farmer´s market breakfast): you can savor the taste and atmosphere of a German-style sausage breakfast at the market. In addition the winegrowers of Mainz offer their finest wine sorts. The Mainz Farmer’s Market is looking forward to your visit!
